(aka "Battlestar Gallactica" due to impressive display of lights on the vehicle compared to other fire appliances of the time)

This appliance was the envy of all brigades when commissioned, the forward thinking and planning by the fire-fighters who knew best of what they required made this appliance our showpiece as well as our most valuable resource. After all, they were the people who would be using the vehicle for many years to come.

This appliance has required very little modification since its original commissioning despite the changes to fire-fighting and emergency handling methods and equipment which have taken place in the last 15 years. This is to the credit of those who spent so many hours planning our 'ideal' fire appliance.

Commissioned Sunday 14th October 1984 at the Eden Hills Fire Station Designed by the members of the Eden Hills Country Fire Service brigade, plans drawn by Mr David Hawkins (Life Member of brigade). The appliance was de-commissioned on Sunday 31st July 2005 when our new Type 2 Pumper appliance took its place.

Eden 52 when still painted red - they way it should be!
When the decision was made, after the Ash Wednesday Fires, to paint all of the CFS's Fire Appliances white instead of the traditional red to increase their visibility in smoke - it sparked a passionate campaign by many CFS members to keep the trucks red. It was a sad day for many when they lost the battle and finally even our beloved Eden Truck had to be repainted in white. To this day it still evokes a lot of emotion.
