Mill and drilling machine.
I have been collecting my tools since I have been working. I find if you want to make or fix anything you need the tools. These machines are upgrades of my old tools. I use to mill on the drill press with good results using a x/y vice. The work was slow and sometimes not accurate but did the job,
Lathe
This is my third lathe, I started out again using the drill press to do most of my simple metal turning. I then upgraded to a small watch makes lathe. then to a old hercus lathe. this lathe was quite worn but did the job. I find these machines usefull but its a little to big to do small jobs for radios.

Electronic work bench, If you want to be able to design and build stuff a good set of test equipment can help. its amazing what you can do with out though.
