Only in Cricket

From today's Wikipedia.

Bodyline was a cricketing tactic devised by the English cricket team for their 1932–33 tour of Australia, specifically to combat the extraordinary batting skill of Australia's Don Bradman. It involved bowlers deliberately aiming the cricket ball at the bodies of batsmen. This caused several injuries to Australian players and led to ill-feeling between the countries that rose to diplomatic levels.

Blogger Code

B1 d t+ k s-- u-- f- i- o x-- e++ l c+

I've been blogging for 1-3 months. I own 1 domain and keep my blog and any other content I produce on the same site. I manage my blog with Greymatter, Movable Type, or other management system running on my own web host. I link only to sites I like to read (and sites that I have time to read) on a regular basis. As far as stats go, I am amazed that someone keeps track of how many people visit my site. I don't link to, nor read, any of the standard A-list blogs (Megnut, Kottke, Robot Wisdom, etc.). In fact, I've never heard of 'em. I don't post that frequently. In fact, I'm lucky if I manage to post 2 or 3 new entries a week. The blog isn't the first thing I think of when something happens, but I usually remember to blog the interesting things... eventually. My entries are a mix of some original material, some web links, and links and comments about other blogs. Some people like to get it on with other bloggers, but for me, the last thing I need is to get sexually involved with one of these neurotic blogging pinheads. I have posted several photos of myself on my blog. Some of them may have included full or partial nudity. I've taken a few surveys or participated in a few memes, but there seem to be so many of them I have to pick and choose. Only a few people I know outside of blog circles knows about my blog.

Happy Australia Day

Happy Australia Day everybody.

On January 26, 1788 Captain Arthur Phillip took formal possession of the colony of New South Wales and became its first Governor.

The fledging colony soon began to celebrate the anniversary of this date. Manning Clarke notes that in 1808 the "anniversary of the foundation of the colony" was observed in the traditional manner with "drinking and merriment".

It's good to see that "drinking and merriment" are still the top priorities!

Alexander the Long

So I walked upto the cinemas last night (The Jam Factory on Chapel Street) with Shona, where we bought two tickets to the 9:30 session of Alexander The Great.

The movie concentrates mainly on the great journey Alexander took Greece, through the conquest of Persia and the exploration into wild India.

The fight scenes are fantastically gorey akin to Braveheart and The Last Samurai, but the film overall probably could've done with some extra editing. It was long winded, and at times I found it downright boring - and after 3 hours the film you're kinda anxious to get out of the cinema.

The acting was pretty good, except I'm pretty sure Greeks don't have Scottish accents.

Overall, an Ok film that I'd give 3/6 sangrias. You'd be better off spending your money on Mr. Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events (which I give 6/6 sangrias).

WifiGuy

A mate of mine has just setup a new online store: The WifiGuy.

I know him to be very passionate about his abbhorence of exessive copper usage, and that is definately what drives this guy.

Anyhow, everything this month is 10% off. And his prices are already quite low. All I need now are some savings!

Evil Genius

I'm currently thorougly addicted to a cool new computer game: Evil Genius.

This game has all the class of a 1970's James Bond movie, complete with the famous sillohete style backgrounds, and all the comedy of Austin Powers.

I'm currently playing as Maximillian (pictured here) - a German corporation director bent on overtaking the world who takes fashion inspriation from 1980's shoulder pads and Dr. Evil's quasi-futuristic suits and has the accent of a lazy Arnold Swartzenegger.

I recommend it to anybody who is sick of playing 3rd person shooters, especially if you thought Dungeon Keeper was in any way cool (I did!).

Sam & Max 2

Yes, the very thought will get your juices flowing.

You'll all remember the atrocity of March, 2004. No, I'm not talking about the various bombings (Madrid, Israel), or Ireland banning smoking. I'm talking about LucasArts deciding to pull the plug on one of the funniest games ever created.

I'm sure you all went out and bought a gold stick-figure doll and practiced your more "unsavory" voodoo spells on it, as I did.

Well, it seems that all this voodoo'ing as paid off. Through my various and random-click (TM) detective work I have come across a company that vows to bring this ill fated game back into glorious life.

We've quietly begun development on an exciting license that we can't wait to tell you about! Well, actually we HAVE to wait to tell you about it, but we can tell you it's something many of you already know and love, and that Telltale's only a part of the exciting things that are brewing around it. If you've enjoyed any of the products we've helped create in the past, you're sure to love this one! Check back frequently, or join our mailing list to find out when the big announcement will be! And please, no peeking!

Telltale Games. Keep an eye on them.

Been a while!

It's been ages since I last posted. Lucky for me, no body reads this site!

Anyhow, it's been a crazy few months, as the people I know will agree. Several weeks of 20-24 hour/day work, several colds, coughs, bike races, and music festivals.

I plan to cover everything shortly, but in the meantime, I'll leave you all with a screen shot of Firefox's weather extension, featuring Melbourne's fantastic summer weather: .

Also, the spanish word of the day is: "Ahora" (now)
