Sam ruminates about alternate realities and her alternatives in this contemplative fic. Most of the story is presented as Sam's internal dialogue as she thinks things over. The author goes through and interprets three years worth of canon and history and uses them to support her theory. I like this fic because the author gives us a look inside Sam's head and shows the character rationalizing things out, which is something I can see Sam doing. The author presents her as deliberate and logical, which fits in with the character I see in canon. Sam doesn't strike me as an impulsive person and reading her internal debate does lend an air of reality to the fic. There is a tiny bit of Daniel worship in this story but that is to be expected given that he is the focus of Sam's musings. I would expect some Jack worship if the fic was about Sam and Jack. It's not a long story and is not something that die-hard Sam and Jack shippers would like to read, but for anyone that enjoys the Sam and Daniel pairing, it's a sweet, warm story. |
