HISTORY - BACKGROUND
In Australia Shinwa Radios were in use in the 1980's and early 90'. They were distributed by a now closed company Hayden-Spike Limited. HSL were located in Mitcham and Springvale in Victoria and West End Queensland. The radios were imported directly from Japan from Shinwa Tsushinki. These radios were also sold in America by Shinwa Communications America. Shinwa Tsushinki C0.,Ltd. were located in Japan at 12.2 Hamadayama 4.Chome Suginamika Tokyo Japan Tel (03)313-1211. Unknown if this place still exists.
Shinwa radios were built of a solid construction and there is still many around. The radios are excellent and it is a disappointment that they are no longer available. Trying to find out any information about these radios is very hard. Most people I have spoken to either know nothing about the radios or it is like a cone of silence in getting any information out of them
The first series of radios were crystal locked, then they developed a EEprom version "X" for mobile and GII for Hand Helds. This EEprom version is based on the Midland 70-1050 programmer. With slight modification to the programmer and a change of S/W in the Eprom the 70-1050 programmer was re-labelled Shinwa SD303. There were 3 versions of S/W, A, B, and the last version made version "C". Version "B" only covered the "X" Series radios. Version "C" Covers "X" and the Hand Helds GII series. The last series of radios know to be made was the "Y" series. These "Y" series radios were PC programmable and the S/W was written in GW Basic. They were only "5" Y series models made and they were all Mobiles, SC410Y, SC425Y, SC510Y, SC525Y and SC825Y.
The Software for the SCA series is unknown..
