instinct
1.
the cat rolls over
exposing its soft belly
to a strangers hands
drawn to the warmth
fingers sift through fur
feel a tiny heartbeat
the cat shuts its eyes
trusts to instinct
expresses pleasure with a purr
2.
I nestle into the nook
between chin and chest
curled up like an animal
instinct has brought me
to this warm shelter
this place we call love
your hand strokes
my soft inner skin
- I would purr if I could
