These are links I have found useful to gain further knowledge
about photography or to seek inspiration from the work of others. It's
just the beginning and this site will grow to include more of my own photos
and tips. Please bookmark and check back from time to time.
WEA
The WEA is an adult education association offering an extensive and very
diverse range of short or longer courses for personal interest or vocational
development. South Australians can search this site for Travel Photography
to find the next course I will be presenting (2006). Other courses of
interest include more photography courses, travel and digital imaging.
Others can look for the WEA or equivalent in their own area.
National Geographic
Some great pictures, needless to say. You can sign up for a newsletter,
Photo of the Day, get tips from the pros, download wallpaper, etc.
California Museum of Photography
An elegant site worth exploring. Houses some famous collections, eg, Eadweard
Muybridge, Ansel Adams, as well as records of current and past exhibitions.
Time Life
Time Life Photo Site. Some interesting galleries to explore but it is
a business so you need to register and pay to get to the real goodies.
Kodak
Excellent tips for all. Click on the ‘Taking Great Pictures’
tab on the home page. Well presented information on a variety of topics.
Photography Tips
Modestly billing itself as ‘the internet’s #1 guide to better
photography’ this site has very useful information including a glossary
of photographic terms and has galleries featuring guest photographers.
Starting as a free site it now relies on subscriptions to support its
ongoing development.
Atomic Learning
Not a photography site but a great place to get learning objects related
to computing, digital imaging, movie making as well as learning how to
do most computer tasks. Some free samplers (see Rule of Thirds) and a
modest annual license fee if you wish to make full use of it. A good way
to get ‘just in time’ help.
All Digital
Photography
Another ‘how to’ site with tips on photographing kids, comets,
and other curiosities of nature.
Earth From the
Air
Fabulous photos of the earth from above created by Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
Just inspiring. Where can I get a helicopter?
Steve Parish
One of the best known and certainly the most published Australian outdoor
photographers. The gallery of his work and tips will reward you with lots
of ideas.
Earthboundlight
Sometimes you just come across nice sites by people wanting to share their
passions. This is one such – ‘Nature Photography from the
Pacific Northwest and beyond by Bob Johnson’. And if you like the
photos and weekly lessons you may also want to follow up on Bob’s
links.
So you want more tip sites?
Try a search for “photo tips” in your favorite search engine.
Note that enclosing both words in double inverted commas turns them into
a single search string, otherwise you would get everything related to
‘tips' AND ‘photo’.
