Chikara Budo

Students wearing medals they were awarded at the April grading

Chikara - strength
Budo - martial arts

Strengthen your body through karate and jujitsu training while enjoying the lasting friendships you develop along the way. Training is self paced, family friendly and fun. Students experience a traditional martial arts environment with Japanese terminology and a sensible level of discipline.

Chikara Budo encourages sharing of martial art styles with visits by students from other clubs including karate and jujitsu. Our students are encouraged to extend themselves through tournaments and inter-club training sessions or seminars. Cost details and online payments can be found on the membership page.

Training restarts this Monday...

Hopefully you are all well rested and have enjoyed the Easter holiday and school holidays if you are lucky enough (that is young enough) to get them. Training starts back this Monday 27 April. The extra class we trialled last term on Thursday at the West Beach dojo to meet demand will continue. So in total there are now 5 classes available per week. See the club calendar and training page for details.

Japanese Tea Ceromony being performed

Congratulations to everyone who achieved their next belt at the April grading. It is great to see all those bright new belts ready to learn new kata and further develop their skills. Well done to Charlotte who was awarded the Encouragement medal, Chelsea who was awarded the Most Improved medal and Tom who was awarded the karate spirit medal.

A very special thankyou to Yumiko from Japan for hosting a traditional Japanese tea ceremony after the end of the grading. It certainly added to the occasion of the Grading and hopefully Shihan Tracy will be ready to host the next one with the training she has had with Yumiko. Yumiko is a qualified tea ceremony instructor.
