Social
activities - 2005
2005 for Chikara Budo has been a growth year with the club opening a new dojo at West Beach and increasing our membership to over 60 active students.
There has been less organised social events but more socialising in general especially amongst the Blackwood students and families. The major social event for the year was the beach training and social get together held on Sunday 5th of December.
10 am Sunday morning 4th December a dedicated bunch of nearly 30 students braved the strong winds and large waves for another Chikara Budo beach training. This was quite different to the perfectly calm and nicely hot day for last years beach training. Everyone did a fantastic job going through all their techniques at times knee deep in water. All of which was after a long warmup of running, pushups and situps.
The highlight had to be watching everyone practise their break falls in the water just when they had begun to dry out a little!
Well done to Myles and Rhianna who joined in the (optional) kata session after the training where the black belts took the students through every kata up to Nidan level while knee deep in the water.
After the beach training a larger group of members, friends and families got together for a Christmas get together lunch. Select the 2005 activities below for more details and to view some images of the beach training
There is some great feed back about the day posted on the Chikara Budo google group which you can go to from the social activities page.
