Social
activities - 2006
2006 has just got going and our first social get together was another beach training which are proving to be very popular with the students who attend. So we might just have to do some more of them...
If you attended the beach training and want to provide some feed back or if you missed out and would like to discuss dates and times for another hop on to the Chikara Budo google group which you can go to from the social activities page.
Beach training March 26
Training started with a warm-up jog over a serious of soft sand mounds that had been piled up by the annual sand carting that takes place at West Beach. Then the students were put through all their basics moving through in stances and with partner work thigh deep in some good size waves. The water was reasonably rough and the whole class had to regularly work their way back into position after being washed along the shore by the waves
As the students began to shiver in the strong winds for kata we moved out deeper where it was harder working against the waves but warmer out of the wind. Finally we finished up with some break falls, backward and forward rolling, take downs and kumite. The end came just in time to complete a challenging achievable training session.
