Dalwood here and there
53+(08/4) |
United KingdomIn the UK, a greater proportion of Dalwoods live in, or come from, the West Country counties particularly Somerset and Dorset, than in any other region/county. Electoral Roll 2003 - 106 people Census 1901 - 118 people Census 1881 - 100 people From the 1881 census to the 1901 census there is a slight dispersion of non-West Country Dalwoods, but the proportion of Dalwoods living in the West Country remains approximately constant. Also evident is a small reduction in spelling variations. Closer examination of actual census records is likely to confirm some spelling variations as errors. AustraliaIn Australia a greater proportion of Dalwoods live in South Australia than in any other state or territory. As at June 2004 39% of all adult Dalwoods in Australia live in South Australia (which is only the 5th most populous of the 8 states and territories). Electoral Rolls (and telephone directories) suggest there are more Dalwoods living in Australia than in the United Kingdom. The Australian Federal Electoral Roll lists Australian citizens 18 years and older who are registered to vote (and voting is compulsory). It shows Australian states and territories to be home to Dalwoods in the following order, most to least: Federal Electoral Roll (June) 2004 - 157 people
#Note that the 2004 population figures used here are for the March quarter ^All of the 5 Dalwoods in the ACT are my immediate family and me Federal Electoral Roll 1991 - 164 people
The column State total popn rank shows the order of total state/territory population, most (1) to least (8). Tasmania and South Australia are the least and next least populous states (but more populous than both the territories). Thus the 'density' of Dalwoods in Tasmania and South Australia is particularly high. NoteAs usual, census and electoral roll statistics do not take into account married women's maiden names. Also, electoral rolls show only registered adults, not the whole population. More numerical details are PLANNED. Please come back again.
