Stilt
walking was fun and exhausting, the tournaments were real
value with lots of whacking, a few minor injuries - and even
use of real blades rather than just padded clubs. Risky
stuff and worthwhile.
We
got to see a rendition of The Taming of the
Shrew which was quite reasonable, but all in all it
ended up pretty boring. Some of the acts were bizarre, but
most were just dull.
The
workshops that were around last year didn't make an
appearance, so it wasn't much fun in the end.
We're
Defecting Back to Victoria
About
time for a holiday I reckon, so we're coming to visit kith
and kin and cause general havoc from April 11th to 14th.
We plan to base ourselves at the Fogues house in Kangaroo
Flat so that we can branch out to everyone without having to
travel too far once we get there.
I'm
looking forward to the long trip. No one to talk to, nothing
to think about except the road and the taste of siphoned
petrol (we ran out last time).
Being
in familiar surroundings again will seem strange, although I
suppose everything has changed over the past year or so.
Can't leave you lot alone for a minute, can we?

The
Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse, Social Security, was
lodging with me earlier this month. "You were over paid for
the Christmas period" he bellowed "give us back our $74.20
or be cast into infernal pits with vipers and other
unsavoury things". I complied and am having a small amount
taken out of my pension every fortnight. Bastards!
That
week was one of the most hideous to ever have come into
existence. Jase got holiday pay when he finished work, which
meant that he was paid normally for another two weeks but
DSS refused to pay me anything. Jase did give me half his
money but I still got annoyed. I wanted to put the separate
amounts on my form - normal wage one fortnight holiday pay
the next - they wouldn't hear of it. Again I say
Bastards!
We
are both looking forward to getting paid normally on
Tuesday.
Over
the past couple of months I have been working on Sundays at
the booth in the Mall, and getting paid for it! $138 for
four and a half hours work is pretty damn good I think.
This
weekend was so busy! Saturday we met some friends form
England Toni & Tony (a friend's father and his
wife)

in the city for drink, as they left for a tour of Kangaroo
Island, Jason & I decided to visit Bernice out at Port
Adelaide. By the time we got home it was almost 8 o'clock
and we still had all our Autumn Festival preparations to
make. We drew up a sign, printed business cards &
packing all the books that Jase had made earlier that
week.
Autumn
Festival turned out to be a complete farce. No advertising
on the roads around the park meant the only people who knew
about it where the few store holders and their immediate
family.
Still,
we (I actually) sold a book. Jason was too scary for people.
He'd leave me alone for five minutes and suddenly 20 people
would be crowding around me, Jase would come back and they'd
all scarper! Horribly cold, wet and windy. I almost got
hypothermia (much to my delight my lips started to turn
blue).
Last
night we went to the Civic Park Spectacular. Lots of lovely
fire works left us going "woo". We stood very close to the
fireworks area so when they went bang I was sure that the
bits were going to land on our heads. The one that Jase
liked the best was fantastic. Wormy gold bits wormed and
sparkled while purple streaks flew; other things went bang
and some went whiz. It was so pretty. We were both very
happy when we left.
Every
second Friday I hope to get to a Deaf Workshop. Sitting
around pubs and cafes in the city signing to Deaf people and
other Auslan students is good fun. I think this is a bit of
a non sequitur, but I wanted to tell you about it any way
seeing as how I haven't mentioned school up until now. Yes
thanks I still love it!
See
you soon!
And
in the Future?
Approaching
a shop in the city to display Spellbound books; to do well
at TAFE; but above all to just settle down and do some
writing. Funny that it was my writing that bought us here in
the first place, but I've hardly picked up a pen.
Just
you wait and see...
