I paid with wet money from a wet wallet; I looked into people's faces for any healing sympathy; I limped my way to known bargains. Shock makes you do silly things.
I bought a raffle ticket for a flash car - funny how accidents you survive actually make you feel lucky.

Goolwa Dreaming

The motorbike still worked so, on a hot weekend after Thayne's wedding, Kristie and I made the trip south to Goolwa.
We stopped to buy some blueberry pies along the way and ate them when we got to the beach.
Goolwa is a lovely, quiet place - like Maldon by the sea. It's on the Fleurieu Peninsula not far from Victor Harbour. Lake Victoria (the end of the Murray River) and the Murray River Mouth are just the other side of Goolwa.
Kristie and I went bodysurfing. Clean seawater and good waves - not too bad around Adelaide, but far better down at Goolwa.
If we were ever to steal away for the weekend I think that Bed & Breakfast & Beach sounds like a good idea.

Trying to get everything in chronological order here is a real nightmare.
A few months ago when Jason was plotting to murder his poetry lecturer, I whipped up a piece for him to use if he got desperate. Well, guess what? I got it published in dB. Remember the street mag Jase got published in? Same one. If you want a copy let me know. Oh yeah, I got $20 for it.
Actually the week I got published was the week I started work at Telstra. Drake asked me to do a 4 week stint, I was fed up with not working so I said I would. It was great, the first night I got a ride home with the boss. Turns out he lives but 5 minutes from me.
After the month had finished, I was asked to stay on for another 3 months. Yay. I was asked to stay on until 31st of May, but Telstra politics reared its ugly head and the request was rejected.

Pity really. What was I doing? Selling mobile phones to corporate companies. Rather a long process, lots of paperwork and new computer programs to bumble through. Still there wasn't much that I couldn't fix. I'm kind of hoping that when the National Manager comes back from holidays he will approve the request. In the mean time I will relax and do whatever the hell I feel like.
As Jase mentioned before we came to Victoria for yet another fleeting visit. This time in honour of my Daddy & Jase's Mummy. And also to pick up my car. "MMMMMMMM, can't write, driving."
I really enjoy coming back to Vic. Jase says he feels a little bit disembodied because we've moved around so much everywhere feels more or less the same. Me, I love coming back to something old and finding new things.
Just a bit of a deviation here. When we got into Bendigo Station, I rang Dad & Margaret to let them know we had arrived (I told them the wrong time). As I hung up the phone and started to walk off someone said "Don't I know you?" I turned to look and sure enough there was someone I knew from Bendigo High. I couldn't remember his name but his face was familiar. After working out who was who, he asked me what I was doing. "I've just come in from Adelaide on a coach." "Oh yes I know how you feel", he said. "I've just come up from Melbourne on the train." Then I remembered why I didn't talk to him at high school. I made good my getaway.
