The Whyalla Amateur Radio Club is a general purpose radio club.

In the past, the club has been involved with:

» operating from the the ship at Whyalla Maritime Museum in
commemoration of Anzac Day,
» and setting up a portable station at the Point Lowly
Lighthouse.
The club also has members who have a strong interest and participate in:
» CW, PSK and other forms of data transmission
» Amateur Television transmissions
» QRP (low power) radio transmissions
» Building projects / antennae
» and of course chatting to like-minded people
» and taking part in Club Event Field Days.
The club is affiliated with the Wireless Institute of Australia and has accredited examiners available for those wishing to sit for their amateur operator certificate.
Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month, except December, at the St Martin Church Hall on Wood Terrace.
The meeting starts at 7:30 PM and new members, or people with an interest in Amateur Radio, are invited to drop in.
At times we have a guest speaker or presenter for the meeting which is presented after a short business meeting.
This is then followed by a break where members and guests can chat over tea and coffee.
An on-air net is held on the first and third Wednesday of the month. Currently the net is held on 146.700MHz starting at 09:30 UTC (or 8.00pm local time).
Members and interested visitors are always welcome and you are cordially invited to call in.
