Queensland Ingres
User Group Inc.
1999 Annual Report
(for year ended 31 October 1999)

Annual General Meeting held Friday 17 December 1999

1999 was again a successful and prosperous year for the Queensland Ingres User Group.

1999 Management Committee Initiatives

1998 saw the consolidation of the efforts of the Management Committee to improve and evolve the service to you our members. These initiatives include the maintenance of the QIUG web site (www.ozemail.com.au/~ingresug/qld). This work has continued during 1999 and the features of this web site include:
  • Full details of Management Committee members
  • Our constitution in full
  • Diary of Events including an ability to RSVP on-line
  • Membership information including an ability to apply for membership
  • Links to other web sites of interest
The Management Committee would like to thank our membership registrar, Mr Peter Morton, who is responsible for managing our membership and mailing database. The Management Committee recognises that the membership register is a vital resource for the user group and as such we are committed to improving the processes surrounding its administration and maintenance.

A number of outstanding annual incorporated returns to the Office of Fair Trading have been approved and our financial records for this reporting period have been audited and comply with the requirements of the Associations Incorporated Act. More details will be provided in the financial report later in my report.

Membership

Membership for 1999 included 4 corporate memberships (each entitled to 10 voting rights) plus 12 individual members. Fees for 1999 remain unchanged from the previous year at $200 for corporate and $20 for individual. Our overall membership has dropped in the area of corporate members with a number of Queensland Government Departments not renewing their membership for a variety of reasons.

Meetings

1999 saw four meetings excluding the annual general meeting. Average attendance at these meetings was approximately 30 people with the overall quality of presentations continuing to rate very highly. These presentations ranged from presentations by vendors to technical solutions that have been developed by our members in using Ingres and related products.

In addition to these presentations, representatives from CA regularly kept us informed as to the latest developments within the world of Computer Associates. A number of QIUG members went to CA world in the USA . Here many of our members met with the developers and designers of the Ingres product set. Charles Chetcuti our Vice President presented to us the highlights of his attendance at CA World.
