PuppetMaster Quickstart guide for Sony Ericsson Phones
Setting up PuppetMaster involves the following steps
Select the download page and click on the “Windows Installer” package.
Save the file to your computer. When it has finished downloading run the installer.
Run PuppetMaster. Click on Preferences. Under Device selection, click to add a new device. Make sure that your phone has Bluetooth turned on and set to discoverable.
When the “Add Device” dialog shows, select your phone. Either of the circled entries shown above will work – If you have the choice, it is preferable that you use the connection that does NOT use a COM port. (This is only available with Microsoft drivers.)
At this stage, you can use the “Connect” button on the Status or Preference dialogs. On your phone, navigate to Connectivity, Accessories and you should be able to see your computer there.
A: Make sure that your phone has Bluetooth turned on and is discoverable. Also make sure that your phone is NOT already connected to any other devices. With some Bluetooth drivers, you may need to pair your phone and computer first.
Q: The Java client gives an “Application Failure” when it runs.
A: Sony Ericsson phones do not require the Java client to function. The phones do support Java and Bluetooth, but NOT Java programmed Bluetooth.
Q: There are funny symbols at the end of some lines.
A: Unfortunately, this seems to be a bug in some of the newer Sony Ericsson phones [eg, K700i, Z1010]. Sony Ericsson may release a firmware upgrade in the future to remedy this.
