Springett mob

I visited the Springett mob in Perth over the new year and, as you can imagine, snapped away like a Japanese tourist. Here is a selection of the many pics I took.

We stopped somewhere on the way down to Penguin Island and Matty had to go and run along this 'bridge'. Train tracks and bridges are star attractions (after trains and trucks).

We arrived at Penguin Island, excited to be off the boat because the wind chill factor was approximately -30°C, only to be told that the Penguins are nocturnal (!!) - meaning we wandered around an island of flora and no visible fauna. Well, we weren't going to Penguin Island in freezing conditions for nothing, so we tried our best to be cheery and philosphical as we hung around the be-flora-ed island for about an hour so we could watch the penguin show which consisted of a ranger lady shoo-ing the sleeping captives out of their little boxes for a feed which they probably didn't really want... but they were cute! And extremely polite. They went up for fish one at a time, waiting in a little group til each had his fill. I think it was worth the wait.

It was the designated sunset-over-the-ocean day and entirely cloudy. Would it be worth it? Too cloudy? We made the trip to Cottosloe only to be rewarded with the best sunset I have ever had the privilege to witness... If only the camera could capture the sweeping vistas of crimson and the enormous ark of a mighty rainbow.

Matty starting to get restless with all the pics and ooh's n' aahs...

Stage 2

Stage 3!!!!

Matty was really enjoying it. I think the mantra was "I'M BORED!"
I politely enquired if this might be a good moment to test out the powers of a sharp pat on the back side... but much to his delight it finally started to rain and we made a quick dash back to the car.

What a handsome couple
