Jill still hasn't figured out whether she travels to take photos or takes photos because she travels. Either way, both have been a major part of her life. Jill's family travelled and her father was a keen photographer so travelling and taking photos seemed normal. Her love of nature and the world has been nurtured from a young age.
Photography is Jill's version of being artistic. She loves the instant gratification of digital photography and the joys of the whole process; taking the photo, looking at them, sorting them, playing with them, and reviewing her various collections on her hard drive.

Beijing Musician - " This old man captured my attention because of his total lack of interest in the passing parade of tourists- what was he dreaming about?"
"Sometimes a camera opens a door with people". Jill feels there is often a moment of contact between the photographer and her subject. Always careful to get permission for a shot, Jill notices that in that brief space of time a relationship is formed. She has also discovered that taking photos begins conversations. |
Wall Tower
|
"This was the only good photo I was able to get from a frustrating, barely, two hours spent at the Great Wall in the late afternoon."
Blue House and Bike. "The 'Blue House' was built for a favourite concubine in the 1800s and has only relatively recently been restored to its former glory. Every aspect of this house provides inspiration and I hope one day to stay there and explore further." |

Warners Bay Sunrise Boats

|
" This picture was taken quickly one morning whilst I was setting off for Sydney, but I just had to stop! The lighting on the boats, as well as the grey mist behind were perfect."
Jill, as with a lot of photographers, finds taking photos makes her feel good. She says there is a buzz in taking photos. And it is always worth a stop. |
Red Leaves

"I often saw these in Europe but this pair were lovely against the stone walls. A lovely memory of my french walk in the Dordogne in 2003" |
Fringed Yellow Tulip
"I love flowers with unusual patterns, colours and shapes. This one is different from the 'usual' shape and colour we expect of tulips."

|
Abbotsford Tulips

"I love the combination of colourful flowers, then towers and stone at the rear." |
| "I adore the textures and shapes of all trees- these had lovely early morning lighting and varied levels. Later I met some curious sheep there." |
Trees at Windermere

Madge, Who's That?

|
These sheep were quite unafraid of me and irritated by my presence in 'their' place - unlike Australian sheep who would have disappeared. |
| "This was another grab shot. I was on a short bus trip on Waiheke Island in New Zealand and saw this sight. I love its lighting and simplicity." |
Waiheke Silver

|
Glen Oak Clouds
|
"I was entranced by the patterns created by the hillsides combined with the dramatic cloud formations."
Dunns Swamp." This is the most stunning of the images I took at Dunns Swamp because of the warm colours. I also enjoy the subtle greys and browns of other images but this is special." |

Ochre Reflections |
| Orange Mosaic. "I love the contrast here. The orange flowers against the wall criss crossed by the hedging lines."

|
Jill's philosophy for photography is have a go! Try anything and see what you get. She enjoys helping novices particularly giving tips for for the effects of light and using angles for light.
Her main message- take photos and enjoy it! |
Mutujulu Magic. "This image is quite different to what I expected at Uluru. I was lucky to catch the light and colours at exactly the right moment."
