 CUSTOMISING YOUR WEBCT MODULE


Adding students

With Version 2 of WebCt, you no longer add students yourself.  Instead send a list of your students' details (no gaps and case sensitive) in the following format to webct-helpdesk@adel.tafe.sa.edu.au 

TAFE ID,First Name,Last Name,Course
352432,Jane,Smith,RYPP4B

* where ...
TAFE ID - the student identification number
First and Last names - the given and family names (with capitalised first letters)
Course - the code used by WebCT

To add students to multiple courses at the same time, you can add further
courses to the file

TAFE ID,First Name,Last Name,Courses
352432,Jane,Smith,RYPP4B:RYXX:RYXZ

* note that the courses are separated by a colon.

To add a class, send the details as follows:

The format of the files required to upload student lists on to WebCT and also to upload staff lists for WebCT courses and hubs is: comma separated values (CSV).

A CSV file is very easy to create... you can create/edit your student staff lists in Excel (if you have an electronic file created from SMS, this should be able to be opened in Excel).  Once you are happy with the listing you will need to select 'save as' from the file menu and from the pull down menu at the bottom of the pop-up box, select to save in the file format CSV.
