Here are the stories from some of the Riverland students

My name is Simarjeet.  I came from India in 1998.  I started school in 1973 and finished it in 1983.  Then I graduated in Science and did my Masters degree in literature.  After finishing it I went for my degree in education too, to become a teacher.  When I completed my studies I applied for my first teaching job in 1992 and taught for six years in India.  Meantime I got married to Baljit in 1993.  We had our son in 1994.  Now he is five and has just started his junior primary (in Australia).

I want to be a teacher in Australia too.  So I need to pass an English Language Test at Australian English level  4.  I did the test 4 weeks ago and got level 4 in speaking, but only level 3 in listening, writing and reading.

To improve my skills, I joined TAFE and met my teachers Frankie and Jean.  They are very co-operative and intelligent and are helping me according to my need.  I’ve got to work hard to get through my test but my teachers, I think, are working harder than me by collecting material for me and then correcting my work.  I hope to pass my test after all this hard work.

Good bye
