About Tomb Raider Underworld (updated 21 December 2008 ) 25 June 2008 - Eidos have now opened the official Tomb Raider Underworld site! Don't miss the high quality (256k) MP3 of the full Tomb Raider Underworld main theme, and also check out the screenshots if you've not seen them before! Lara will finally be able to Scuba dive as well, something I've always thought was an obvious extension of the gameplay that should have been included much earlier. On 31 January 2008, Tomb Raider: Underworld was announced on the official Tomb Raider site! The game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics, and is set for release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation 2 for Christmas 2008. Eidos had previously stated that there would be no Tomb Raider release on PlayStation 2 after TR Anniversary, but I always suspected that this decision would be reversed due to the continuing strong support for gaming on the PS2. Underworld reportedly features significantly improved graphics and lighting, a detailed weather system, improved enemy AI (artificial intelligence), new weapons, and a much improved animation set for Lara, to mention just a few things. And it looks like the spiders are back! (their only previous appearance was in Tomb Raider II, where they still give me the shivers, so although I'm looking forward to them again, I'm also not looking forward to them again...) Tomb Raider Chronicles will be giving wide coverage to the game as more details become available, including concept art, screenshots etc., so be sure to keep an eye out there for all the goodies! Planet Lara have some good coverage of Tomb Raider: Underworld, including an in-depth preview based on a demo level. This preview makes interesting reading, and if the final game lives up to the promise shown so far then it will be a major advance from Legend and Anniversary! Also keep an eye on the official Tomb Raider site for more news and goodies. Walkthroughs As I won't be producing a walkthrough for Underworld for reasons described on my Q&A page, and I won't be much help, at least until the PS2 version arrives, I'd like to suggest a visit to Stella's site for people who are in need of assistance. Stella's Underworld walkthrough is well underway and is sure to be one of the better walkthroughs on the net. TL. When the game arrives in Australia, hopefully late 2008, I intend to start work on my walkthroughs. I'll be writing them from the Xbox 360 game but they should be applicable to both the PC and PlayStation games as well. Hints and Tips
