"...that which is above is as that which is below, and that which is below is as that which is above..."
- Hermes Trismegistus

The "Hermetic Science" teaches that all matter or energy in the universe, including human beings, are made of, and move through, the being of God. The being of God is his consciousness. To the Hermetic Scientist the entire universe is the result of God's mental processes or consciousness. It states that in fact we humans, our minds, are eternal individualized expressions of the Divine Will. It is this fact that the alchemist strives to bring into conscious realization, and use throughout his daily life. - spagyia.com

Alchemy is something that has alway interested me, however I am only at the beginning phase of learning myself. Most people think of the Philosopher's Stone or turning a base metal into gold. While these are the physical aspect of Alchemy there is also a spiritual side to the study. This is what I want to learn, I know that it is a long study and will be going to the ancient texts first. After that I'll see where I end up.

The five basic tenets of alchemy, are:

1) The entire universe is divine in origin. Wisdom and Guidance must be sought from the source from which all creation flows.

2) Everything has within them the divine and are interconnected with each other. It is our task to understand this connection.

3) All organisms are in a state of constant evolution as they continue their synthesis towards perfection. It is upon reaching an understanding of the second tenet that the true work begins.

4) Humans are a part of the universe. This being so, we are divine in origin and we can affect all other organisms on all levels of existence by our actions or inaction.

5) Humans, by understanding the basic laws that govern our beings, and also the entire universe, may learn to recognize the divine energy in all organisms, isolate it, purify it, and manipulate it to speed up the processes of evolution.
