Safety.

Safety is obviously an issue that most people are concerned about. Thankfully Chiropractic treatment is one of the safest forms of treatment around. A Royal Commission into Chiropractic in New Zealand found that Chiropractic was "remarkably safe".

As with any treatment there are potential side affects and risks. The most serious reported risk is that of a stroke from adjustments of the neck. However a recent study in the respected medical journal Spine, found that the risk was no more than that experienced in daily activities, and that no form of cervical manipulation has been shown to increase the risk of stroke.(1) So what does this mean? There is a risk that stroke could occur from a chiropractic adjustment, but that risk is no more than if you turned your head while reversing the car for example. Chiropractic adjustments are many times safer than taking an aspirin. In fact you are more likely to be struck by lightening than you are to have a serious reaction to chiropractic treatment!

Other minor risks include some stiffness or soreness following treatment. In reality millions of chiropractic adjustments are delivered safely each week bringing relief and good health to many thousands of people. If you have any specific concerns about safety, phone one of our offices and ask one of the Doctors to call you to answer your concerns.
