19th November 2011

Goolwa to Meningie Sailing Classic 2011

What a great day!!

The breeze was consistent all day,

This was one of the quicker races, with all competitors finishing

BEFORE 1700 – wow! We were sitting around waiting for the last

of the cats to finish – a real turn-up for the books.

A presentation was held, then the beautiful tea, and even time

to sit around to reminisce over the day.

Many thanks to the competitors, 24 boats started & all finished.

We have enjoyed so much seeing this Classic Race once again.

Also a great BIG thankyou to all the volunteers, who gave of their time,

Fuel, and boats. A special mention to Vic Woolston who took on the task

of Race Officer, and all the work that this entailed.

The backup of the S.E.S. boat and crew was also greatly appreciated.

To everyone who supplied the lovely food, recorded results, worked radios,

the tender boat, changed the wheel bearing on the boat trailer,

cooked the barbeque, washed dishes, worked at the bar.

The list goes on & on, & on.

Also thankyou to members of the Meningie community who dropped in

And asked “what can I do to help”. We were thrilled!

FANTASTIC – this was another great Goolwa to Meningie!!!!

See ya all next year – pass the word around.

Our first “Come & Try Sailing” was held on Saturday 22nd October 2011.

A wonderful, little breezy day. It was great to be back on the water again!

We look forward to seeing you at the clubrooms sometime soon.

The date for the Commodore’s Christmas Dinner is:

Saturday 17th December 2011.

A great Opening Day was held on 15th October 2011.

In normal Opening Day fashion the winds were 60-70 km/h.

But we had a great time re-acquainting ourselves with the clubrooms.

A good time of catching up with each other,

And great food.
