My Home

Located on Hobart's Eastern shore I live in the BEST place :)

Suburban but with bush just metres away, I am just 200 metres from the river, 100m from shops, 4 minutes from one major shopping centre and 5 minutes from the centre of Hobart.

This is my backyard in Winter 2007. That's frost.

Just on the other side of the river is as close as we normally get to snow.

Mt Wellington usually has a little snow on it most of Winter and Spring, although not as much continuously as when I was a child.

When the hills off to the right have snow then that's a COLD spell.Doesn't happen very often and rarely lasts 2 days.

Snow actually falls in Hobart and surrounds about every 5 years, but only settles about every 20.

In 1986 we all got snowed in with the heaviest snowfall on record for many areas. Traffic stopped completely (the only snow plough in the state is up the mountain), schools closed, most -Where i livepeople couldn't get to work (mostly because there are very few flat driveways in the state and no one could get traction to get out of their carports). It was like a holiday. I think the official record of the fall for Hobart was 8cm ( 3") !
