Freemasonry

The History

The origins of Freemasonry are lost in time. Its symbols and ceremonies are derived from the lodges of the medieval stonemasons who designed and constructed the great castles and cathedrals of Europe.

Freemasonry has been part of Australian life since the early 1800s and its members have played an active role in the development of the nation and the betterment of society.

Freemasons:

  • Share a concern and respect for human values, moral standards, the laws of society and the rights of individuals.
  • Are deeply involved in helping other people through the Freemason's Hospital and Royal Freemason's Homes for the aged.
  • Regularly participate in Lodge meetings and Masonic activities.
