Laputa - castle in the sky

I'll start off by telling you this is my favourite anime movie of all time! Well, maybe not the only favourite, but if you asked me for a top 5 list I'd immediately say Laputa then stop and think about the next 4. Well, 16 yrs later the animation probably doesn't look quite up to par with the likes of new anime, but story and music wise Laputa can still compete with the big boys of the new age anime. Like a lot of Ghibli's productions, Laputa has excellent music which just goes with the anime nicely. Storywise, there's a floating island (Laputa) hidden in the sky with technology that surpasses the 'land dwellers'. Various factions (pirates/governments etc.) are after the island for their own purposes (money/power etc.) and the key to reaching the island is through one of Laputa's last living inhabitants, Sheeta, who has no idea about her heritage. The anime is one great adventure which is surely to be enjoyed by any person of any age!
