12 December 1841 Henry Arthur Readford born at Mudgee, the youngest of the eleven children of ex-convict Thomas Readford and his free-born wife Jemima (née Smith).
1860 Living with brother James (1836-1905), owner of Cunningham Creek station, near Mudgee.
August 1864 Arrested for cattle stealing but not charged.
March 1868 Tried for cattle stealing but found not guilty.
1869 Squatting on Wombundery station near Windorah in south-west Queensland.
March 1870 With George Dewdney and William Rooke, Readford begins 800-mile drive from Bowen Downs, near Longreach in Queensland, to South Australia with 6001000 head of stolen cattle, including an imported white bull.
June 1870 White bull sold at Hill Hill station in north-east South Australia. Balance of herd sold at Blanchewater station for £5000.
13 April 1871 Readford marries Elizabeth Jane Skuthorpe.
1871 and 1872 Several associates of Readford found not guilty at Roma Court of their part in stealing the cattle from Bowen Downs.
January 1872 Readford arrested by Police Sergeant Thomas Webb and Police Constable Frederick Bacon and taken to Blackall to await trial.
11 February 1873 At Roma Courthouse, Readford found not guilty of stealing the cattle from Bowen Downs.
April 1875 At Roma Court found not guilty of horse stealing.
May 1877 At Roma Court found not guilty of horse stealing.
18 June 1877 At Toowoomba, found guilty of horse stealing and sentenced to eighteen months' hard labour at Brisbane Gaol. Released in September 1878.
1883 Droves large mob of cattle from Boulia in south-west Queensland to stock Brunette Downs station in the Northern Territory. First manager of Brunette Downs.
1890s Purchases Corella Downs, a small property in the north-west of Northern Territory. Forfeits the lease during drought time.
1899 Manager of McArthur River station in the Gulf country of Northern Territory.
March 1901 Drowns while attempting to swim Corella Creek.
