Image Information: 1280 x 1024. Rendered in Cinema4D with Best anti-aliasing, no reflection/refraction and Hard shadows.
The render time was 36 minutes. The grass blades visible near the base of the tree were added in Photoshop using the Xenofex
Alien Skin, Fur filter.
Artistic Information: My first go at NPR (Near Photo-Realistic) work. Getting this right was a challenge, and the tree ended up
consuming 262,116 polygons. Each leaf is 6 polygons to give them a natural curvature and the leaf texture is a real leaf scanned in
at 1152 * 1024 on a Hewlett-Packard ScanJet scanner. The ground texture was taken with a Hewlett-Packard Photosmart 120 digital camera from
the golf course near my house and the landscape is two differently scaled Cinema4D multifractal Landscape primitives. The lens flare was
applied to the light source in Cinema4D. The strange sky and cloud colours are because this picture is supposed to be on an alien planet
orbiting a blue star and were thus created this way intentionally.
