Artistic Information: The Amareyn is an ancient symbol of the Aimanhyarin and is instrumental to the story behind the Arnagest project. The stars were created using a Star Spline primitive in an Extrude NURBS object, while the outer ring is an 8-sided Polyspline primitive in a Lathe NURBS object. The Aimanhyarin script was created using the Aimanhyarin language font I created in FontBuilder, as a Text Spline primitive in an Extrude NURBS object. This extruded object was then cut from the Lathe ring using the Boolean Subtract operator. Finally the gems were created and also cut from the stars using Boolean Subtract so that their interiors would show up properly. The techniques I used to create these gemstones are available as tutorials on 3DLapidary.com, to whom I owe a vote of thanks for a very instructive and informative website. Using these techniques, I created the two seven-sided gemstones (and computed the appropriate refractive index) to match the stars they are mounted on.
