Image Information: 1280 x 1024. The Terragen texture manager was put through its paces with this one, to produce the lava and
rough rock surfaces. The 512 x 512 map was hand-carved as a grayscale heightmap in Photoshop, using the Brush Jitter and Scattering
tools. After rendering, the image was taken into Photoshop and the Alien Skin Xenofex Smoke filters were used
to add the rising columns of smoke. Render time in Terragen was about 17 minutes.
Artistic Information: I wanted to create a gloomy, dangerous-looking place to match the mood I was in at the time. It turned into a
vision of what the Earth might have looked like 3 billion years ago, before life evolved on this planet.
