Alpine Verdure

Image Information: 1280 x 1024. Here, I wanted to combine Cinema4D objects with a Terragen backdrop. Using the NPR Tree (the same one used in Arboreal Sunset and Tree And Leaf in the Original Gallery, along with miscellaneous other trees and bushes I've created since, the scene was rendered in Cinema4D using the Terragen render as a Background object. The landscape was built in World-Machine for maximum realism, and the foreground hilltop from Cinema4D is actually matched to the shape of the Terragen landscape - but replaces it. The original foreground hilltop from Terragen was actually nothing but bare rock with a few grassy patches. The grass was added afterwards using the Xenofex Fur filter in Photoshop, and is not actually 3D. Terragen render time was 16 minutes, the Cinema4D render time was 32 minutes, and final processing, grass and cleanup was a further 2 hours. The complete time to create this image (not counting tree or landscape modelling) was about 4-5 hours.
Artistic Information: Trying to capture the "Golden Time" again, although matching lighting effects between Cinema4D and Terragen is a challenge, since the programs use different algorithms to compute lighting. I find in this image an atmosphere of spiritual solitude; cool breeze, occasional bird chirp, the whisper of the wind in the leaves, and a place for deep reflection.
