The L31 5.0L V8 was replaced by the LV2 4.9L in June 1985. This was to help Commodore in the Group A racing, because it could shed 75kg of weight by now being under 5.0 L. The LV2 is still referred to being 5.0L in most places. Holden quotes the same power figures for both engines.
