Also recalled this week is fabulously rich Victorian socialite Lady Warwick, who lived at Easton Lodge, near Great Dunmow in Essex. A friend of Edward VII, she threw lavish parties and worked her way through her fortune. In the 1920s she embraced socialism and courted the Labour Party. She died in relative poverty the following decade.
