This folder contains images of comets taken using my LX90 and Canon 300D combination. I have a lot to learn about capturing these periodic visitors.

NEAT (C2001 Q4) Date: 01/05/2004 21:07 LT; Scope: Meade LX90, F6.3; Camera: Canon EOS 300D; Exposure: 5 x 9 sec, ISO 800; Processing: Large/Fine JPG images converted to 16bit TIFF in ImagesPlus. No dark subtractions. Images aligned using using Point and Translate + Rotate function and combined using Adaptive Addition in ImagePlus. Some finishing touches using Digital Development.

Machholz (C2004 Q2) Date: 02/07/2004 22:00:34 LT; Scope: Meade LX90, f/6.3; Camera: Canon EOS 300D; Exposure: 10 x 20 sec, ISO 1600; Processing: RAW images converted to 16-bit TIF in ImagesPlus. Dark subtraction. Images aligned using using Centroid and Translate + Rotate function and average combined in ImagePlus. Post-processing in ImagesPlus and Photoshop.

Machholz (C2004 Q2)

Machholz Finder01 Projected celestial orbit of Machholz (C2004 Q2) for the month of December from my viewing location in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The date is in the format DD:HH where DD is the date and HH is the time in 24 hr time. Each orbit position is for 2200 hrs Eastern Australian Daylight Savings Time (EADST).
