My Dell Inspiron 8500 notebook is an essential part of my
setup. I use it both for imaging and for commanding my LX90 through
ASCOM 3.0 running Starry Night Pro (SNP) 4.5.2. The 8500 is a
'widescreen' notebook and this allows for expansive views of the night
sky. Gotos under SNP are as simple as right clicking an object and
selecting 'Slew to.' The problem in using a notebook is to find a
method that permits ease of access to both the notebook and the telescope
eyepiece. For a while I carted a small fold-away table with me but it
was a chore to cart and reposition every time I slewed to another location. I
had to use a little lateral thinking to come up with a solution. |
