Name: Paul Richard Blowes Age: 23 Sex: Male Birth date: 24th January 1985 Location: Blayney NSW |
Education:
I have lived around the Blayney region my whole life. I attended Blayney Public school from 1990 to 1996, then moved onto Blayney High school where I attended from 1997 to 2002. In 2003 I completed a TAFE course, Digital Arts and Media, at the Orange campus. I started my Computer Science (Games Technology) course in 2004 at the Charles Sturt University and I'm currently looking for work placement for my final year of the course.
Employment:
During my year 10 work experience week I worked at the Blayney Council Chambers in the IT department, setting up and fixing computers. I was very happy working within IT and got along with everyone at the council. In 2004 I started work at my current casual job as a teller at the National Australia Bank (nab). Working as a casual for the nab allowed me to complete my course while making a living. I enjoy working at the bank and have acquired skills in cash counting, customer relations, stock market investments and correct policies and procedures to avoid fraud.
Interests:
Apart from being a gamer, I also have other interests anyone my age would have. Sports I play include Soccer, Cricket, Ten Pin Bowling, Golf and Tennis. During my TAFE course I got interested in video editing and 3D graphics production. At the moment I have made one supernatural documentary of the town of Carcoar which I have got great reviews from everyone who has seen it. Creating 3D graphics is also a passion of mine, I have made many small videos and also some models which where used within a project at university, which I was complemented on by all involved. I also enjoy painting and drawing, mostly anime style the past few years, where many friends have asked me to draw them as anime characters. During my time at uni I acquired a taste for music and have began teaching myself to play the synthesizer, which I had always wanted to try. My band hasn't released a full song yet, as we don't have a singer but we do have many samples of our sound available. I enjoy both horror books and movies, and have started writing my own fanfic of Silent Hill, called Silent Hill: The Eye. I have two chapters at the moment and plan on adapting it to script to animate in 3D (many years down the track). All material can be found on my extras page.
Gaming History:
I played my first ever game in 1989, it was pong on a borrowed IBM computer and it was against my Dad. I won the game and was amazed by how it all worked. That same year my family got me an Amiga 500 computer so I taught myself how to use a computer but without anyone with experience to teach me, I couldn't learn any programming on my own at that age. I got my first console in 1990 or 1991. It was a Sega Master System 2 and at that point I was converted to console gaming. My favorite games was Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusions, Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Putt'n'Putter golf. In 1994 I got a Super Nintendo and became Nintendo loyal for the next few years. By this time I had made a few other gamer friends at school and was really enjoying playing multiplayer games with them, such as Super Bomberman, NBA Jam and Super Tennis. My favorite games on the SNES was Super Metroid, Zelda: Link to the past and Secret of Evermore. In 1996 I changed loyalty again and got a Sony Playstation with my own hard earned cash($400 is alot of money to an 11 year old) with my favorite games being Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 7 and Silent Hill. I upgraded to a Playstation 2 in 2000 and by this time I was making my own money and was enjoying buying games whenever I liked. Finally in 2002 I had saved up enough money to buy a computer. At this time I got back into PC games with the games Half-Life, Age of Empires and The Sims. At this point, I'm enjoying my Playstation 3 and Wii.
