"Phil Barrenger, he's
so hot right now"

Welcome to my web site, it's a place for
me to share tools I have made for XSI and also to advertise myself
as a 3D artist. Like most 3D artists I love what I do. I spend a
lot of my spare time furthering my knowledge in relation to films
and film making with a bias towards 3D and visual effects.
For the last 3 years I have been working with
a small post house called Whiz Digital in Perth, Western Australia.
Perth has the distinction of being the most remote capital city
in the world. Therefore the industry here is small and allows people
like me to get the chance to do a bit of everything. As such I have
been involved in all aspects of 3D, from story development to on
shoot supervision to the final comp. For that reason I would consider
myself a 3D Generalist but I am working towards having more of a
technical development role.
In 2001 I graduated from Curtin University with
a BA in Multimedia Design. This course gave me an excellent grounding
in graphic design and art before specialising in 3D animation. It
also involved some interactive media design which I have found extremely
useful when making controls for character rigs that are intuitive
to use.
Following Uni I completed the inaugural year of
the CADSA (center for advanced digital screen animation) course.
This involved working in a small team on a pilot episode for a kids
tv series. It provided great experience in story writing, cinematography,
2D animation, model making and, of coarse, 3D Animation. CADSA also
gave me the chance to work as a part of a team which was very welcome
having just completed Uni which is quite a solitary experience.
When I'm away from the computer I do all sorts
of things, Mountain Biking, Surfing, Skiing, Water Skiing, any sports
involving a ball, fishing, flying, reading, drawing, playing computer
games. You name it and if I haven't already tried it then you can
be sure I will have soon;) I enjoy life in general and I try to
fill it with as many experiences and friends as possible.
Hopefully this site proves useful for people,
I know it's already been useful for me as a way of organising my
3D stuff.
Cheers,
Phil Barrenger |
