Just happened Thursday. A student in P Chem lab dried his pycnometer in
a 100 deg C (or so) oven. The pycnometer's internal thermometer covers
the 15-35 deg C range. So the student pays $12 (our maximum assessment)
and the state taxpayers pay a couple hundred to replace it. I try to warn
against every possible screwup, but this one never seemed possible.
