X is an intelligent child with
a love for learning. Our expectation of the school is to ensure that the
child realises their potential, in spite of the hearing loss, and
that the school provides the necessary support for the child to achieve
this.
X is a friendly child, who actively seeks out friendships and enjoys the company of others. Hearing loss, and subsequent communication difficulties, can influence the psychosocial development of hearing impaired children. As such, we foresee the school subtly monitoring these interactions and developing intervention strategies to be followed by staff. Similarly strategies for dealing with communication breakdown, for use by the hearing children, need to be determined, to enable them to deal with these scenarios in their own right.
