What does phisa offer?

Social

To help the children maintain their relationships with the other "PHISA" kids, we have decided to get together on a more regular basis. As we have a quarterly newsletter, we will announce the location and time/date details of a get together in each edition of the newsletter. This will allow everyone to meet about 4 times a year. The details of our get togethers will also be posted here, so watch this space!

Workshops

PHISA is always happy to organise workshops for our members. To assist in providing workshops that are relevant to our members, please suggest topics you would like covered by our workshops. You can do this by contacting the liaison officer or emailing us via this site. We look forward to hearing your suggestions.

PHISA Camp

Our PHISA family camp is one of our most sought after services. The family camp occurs every two years with our next camp to be August 23 - 25, 2002.

Our 2002 camp is to be  held at Stockport, north of Gawler.

The aim of the camp is to provide contact for families and children with a hearing loss in a fun environment. We organise guest speakers to attend the camp to speak to parents. Past guest speakers have been in the area of behaviour management, audiology, discussion panels with young adults speaking about their deafness and education etc. Whilst parents listen to guest speakers, the children are cared for by carers and are having a great time enjoying a fun program of arts/crafts and games.

When parents are not listening to speakers, everybody joins together for a real fun camp atmosphere. Parents and children join together to help in meal preparation, serving and dishwashing under the watchful eye of our head chef. It is truly a wonderful time to make new friends and renew old friendships and have some great family time.
