Vitamin D

In the medical world, this year's gospel is next year's heresy. Too much sunshine is a bad thing, so we've been slavering ourselves with sunscreen  But we do need a bit of sunshine in order to get 'the sunshine vitamin'. We don't want to get burnt but we need a bit of the sun.

Enter Ashton Embry, a name you'll be familiar with from the gluten page.  He's written VITAMIN D SUPPLEMENTATION IN THE FIGHT AGAINST MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS - basically, Vitamin D with Calcium & Magnesium is what you need in your fight against MS; he says "An abundance of scientific evidence indicates that vitamin D deficiency is associated with MS onset and progression" And further "Small clinical trials have suggested that vitamin D has some efficacy in slowing autoimmune disease progression although no properly controlled trials have been conducted."

The problem is that there's not the money in it for the drug companies to make Vitamin D available (ABC TV Catalyst transcript).  Enter the Life Extension Foundation:  they sell Vitamin D in 1000 IU capsules.
