The club was formed in March 2003 with the intent to provide a friendly
environment in which seniors could be encouraged in the use of
computers to enhance their lifestyle. The club attempts to cater for
all levels of computer experience and needs. All Club management and
teaching activities are conducted by volunteer club members.
Membership is open to all Seniors not less than 50 years of age.
Members are encouraged to participate in special "Interest Groups" such
as genealogy, digital Photography, Computer Craft and Computer Games.
The club has a social committee that organises activities and events to
encourage members to socialize and meet other members with similar
interests.
Events are organised with guest speakers invited to address and inform
members of services and products that may be of interest to our members
such as internet banking, genealogy, internet security etc.
As at May 2005 we have 154 paid up members and new members are always
welcome and can join the club on most weekdays at the Computer Room in
the Senior Centre.
We now have a large room (Approx. 11m x 7m) and a layout suitable to
accommodate 18 computers on individual desks all connected to very fast
broadband internet via wireless connection. This Wireless network
connection system was donated by Leonay Golf Club.
