Match Summary

The much anticipated Carey v Jakovich duel went Wayne Carey's way. Jakovich, conceded 4 goals to Carey by halftime, and was benched with an ankle injury after the second quarter. It was in the second quarter that Carey exploded - kicking 4 goals, helping North to a 20 point break. Eventually it was injuries to key players - Pike, Matera, Wooden, Jakovich, Metropolis and Gehrig that severely limited the Eagles scoring options.

North was able to hold off a determined fightback, in which the Eagles got to within 6 points in the last quarter. David King's goal was reminiscent of Peter Daicos' magic - it may be close to being the most outrageous goal of the year.
