Match Summary

In an experiment North moved this match to Canberra, in a bid to increase an interstate supporter base. A capacity crowd of 12,242 forced a lock out at the game.

The match saw North starting fairly well, goaling twice before Port got started. The Port midfield then lifted, and kicked 3 goals - but missed several easy shots. North trailed in a quarter lacking in any intensity. Pagan was extremely vocal at quarter time, and asked for North to get back to basic team rules.

A fantastic second quarter saw North kick 7.8, which stitched the match up. Roberts was best on ground, and kicked 2 goals in the third term to seal the match. He took 10 marks on a day that Carey was held to 3 marks.

The match highlight was Winston Abraham's mark - which will almost certainly be mark of the year.
