Allen Aylett was asked to name his greatest North Melbourne team for the last 40 years (Herald Sun 25/9/98). Aylett was one of the greatest North Melbourne players in history (220 games 1952-64, 3 Best and Fairests, 15 State Games). He also served as club president (1971-76) during the period which built the club from cellar-dweller to first time premiers. After this he became VFL President (1977-84).
Aylett did not select himself in the team, even though he would be a certain selection in Norths best team.
