After a good start where North wasted easy shots at goal Sydney overcame a first quarter deficit, kicking 22 goals to 6 for the rest of the game. North was lucky to be only 16 points down at half time, such was Sydney's dominance in the second quarter. The third quarter was a complete shutdown. Sydney booted 10 goals to 3 and the game was over. At one stage Sydney rammed through 9 consecutive goals. North couldn't even win the final quarter, in indication of how poorly the team was performing. Lockett booted 10 goals, probably not so much due to Martyn's efforts, but the number of times the ball was delivered into the Sydney forward line. Carey was starved of opportunities up forward, and McKernan put in his worst effort for the season..
First Quarter
North squandered easy shots at goal, and despite dominating the play only had 2 more goals than Sydney. Nine scoring
shots to 3 indicated the wastefulness. Carey and Daniltchenko missed close shots.

Second Quarter
Sydney came out and kicked 5 goals in a 7 minute blitz. Sydney could have been further in front, but made a few errors in
attack. Lockett was starting to get the ball, Luff was dominating the half-forward line and Kelly getting the ball out of the
middle.

Third Quarter
In North's worst effort this season, they managed one of the next 11 goals of the quarter, before kicking the last 2. In another
inspired spell, Sydney simply slaughtered the North midfield and defence, kicking 9 goals from the 8 minute mark to the 25
minute mark. The result was a foregone conclusion by this stage.

Fourth Quarter
Hoping to perhaps stage a mini-fightback and salvage some pride, North managed just 2 goals to Sydney's 6. In the only
highlight for the day for North fans Archer took a sensational high mark in time-on. However the Swan's performance was
outstanding and North was pathetic.Sydney kicked the first 6 goals of the quarter and North was looking at a 100+ point
defeat. However the last 2 goals of the game improved the margin ever so slightly. From the second quarter until time-on in
the last quarter Sydney booted 22 goals of the 26 goals in this period. No more needs to be said!
Goal Sequence: S, S, S, S, S, S, N, N
North put in an absolute shocker of a performance. Last week's effort against Footscray was also lacking in quality. Next week's match against Essendon is a must win game, as North could drop behind several teams in the eight. Sydney was too fast and creative for North. When a Sydney player had the ball there were several teammates running loose creating opportunities. North played behind their opponents all day, and didn't attack the ball with any effort. Sydney was first to the ball, and often there was not an opponent within metres of the loose ball.
It was a forgettable day for any North fan, which saw the team drop to second position on the AFL Ladder.
