British Army Photographs:  If you are interested in old photographs and the British army then click on the link at left and visit this small collection of photographs brought to Australia by Peter McArdle after he purchased his way out of the 72nd Highlanders stationed in India in 1874.

Carte de Viste Photographs from Chester, England:  Again Peter McArdle brought to Australia some photographs from Chester. They are family shots but are still interesting to see.

When you click on this link you will see both the front and back of the Carte de viste. This shows the different styles of the photographers used in this advertising medium.

Quinn:  John Quinn married Margaret McArdle in 1863. He arrived in Australia in 1857 and travelled to Bathurst in search of gold. He was a blacksmith by trade. He assisted Margaret McArdle and his sister, Margaret Quinn out to Australia. He may have also helped a brother but I have not been able to find this out as yet.

Margaret Quinn married Anthony WILSON and they lived in the Curra Creek area near Wellington NSW. Anthony Wilson having made his fortune on the gold fields purchased a property and farmed at Curra Creek till his death. He submitted a page on himself to the "Men of Mark" book.

Schuck:  John Schuck came to Australia some time between 1855 and December 1857 with his family from Nassau in Germany. By 1859 he was buying land in Molong NSW where he continued his trade as a market gardener. Other German families in the Molong area were the Muller family later changing their name to Miller. And the Zotzenbach family. These two families are not related to the Schuck family but they would certainly have known each other. John Schuck's daughter, Kate, married Peter McArdle.
