The game was won in the first and third quarters. The Tigers kicked ten goals into a stiff breeze to establish a 34 point lead at lemon time. The Eagles could only manage three goals when assisted by the breeze. It was another all dominant performance by the Seasiders. The midfield pressure was relentless, the defence blunted the Eagles' forward thrusts and Grima, Sellar and Kirkby were a constant threat up forward. details

The Tigers extended the lead to 55 points early in the final quarter before the Double Blues staged some resistance. The Tigers were dominant all over the ground. The defence made Sturt's explosive forwards impotent. The midfield smashed the opposition around the stoppages and the Bays had marking forwards. After a humiliating ANZAC day defeat to Central Districts, Glenelg has built a 6 game winning streak and sit comfortably on the top of the premiership table. Sturt, on the other hand, are heading in the opposite direction. After smashing the Bulldogs on home soil Sturt have suffered big losses to North Adelaide and now Glenelg. During his current contract Glenelg has played in 2 finals series including last year's grand final appearance and minor premiership. ROUND 11 v WEST ADELAIDE (13/6/09) Glenelg comfortably defeated West Adelaide by 46 points in windy conditions. The win was set up in the first quarter when the Bloods could only manager a 21 point advantage when kicking with a healthy breeze. The Bays slammed on seven goals with the windy to head into the changerooms with a 21 point lead. The 17-2 inside 50 count was indicative of Glenelg's second quarter dominance. The Bloods failed to capitalise with the wind in third quarter being outscored by the Seasiders 3-1 to 3-3. West threatened early in the last quarter to reduce the deficit to13 points. However, five goals in eight minutes secured the victory for the Tigers and outright top spot on the premiership table. Midfielder Tom Holmes was one of the factors in Glenelg's victory. Holmes stood above his more credential fellow midfielders, Brett Backwell, Adam Fisher, Ben Kane and Ty Allen, by kicking five goals and laying 12 tackles. He was well supported by Joshua Willoughby who continued his recent goal kicking form with three goals. ROUND 10 v PORT ADELAIDE (8/6/09) A three week break could not stop Glenelg recording an emphatic victory against Port Adelaide. The game was all but over at quarter time after the Tigers had established a four goal advantage. Josh Willoughby was outstanding early kicking three goals and James Sellar was a strong target up forward. Brett Backwell was dangerous around the ground chipping in with three clever goals. Mills, Kirk, Meyer, Panozzo and Mules thwarted and frustrated the Magpies forward thrusts. Overall, what could have been a potential dangerous game for the Bays turned out to be just another day at the office. However, the Tigers may live to regret not punishing the opposition and building up some much needed percentage. details

ROUND 8 v NORWOOD (16/5/09) The Bays returned to their very best form in thumping a disappointing Redlegs at Coopers Stadium on Friday night. In drizzly conditions the Tigers stormed the opposition with a six goal first quarter to lead by 27 points. Glenelg's dominance continued in the second quarter. The Seassiders kicked five goals while keeping Norwood goal-less. The 57 point advantage at half-time was well earned. The last half was purely academic. The Tigers stretched the lead out to 73 points at the final change before being outscored four goals to two in final quarter. Todd Grima was dominant up forward kicking five goals and he was well supported by Kirkby, Murphy and Sellar. Norwood's only moment of joy was kicking the first goal. Glenelg's next game will be against Port Adelaide in three weeks, after the State game and the bye. details
ROUND 7 v NORTH ADELAIDE (9/5/09) Despite appearing to dominate the Roosters the Tigers crawled over the line in a nail biting finish at Gliderol Stadium. The Bays inaccurate kicking almost cost them the game. Glenelg was wasteful in the second quarter kicking 2 goals 5 to lead by only seven points at half-time. After half-time the Tigers failed to shake-off the plucky Roosters but gradually eeked out a 12 point lead midway through the last quarter. North responded to trail by 5 points entering time-on. The Bays patiently and nervously run down the clock in their defensive zone and almost turned over the ball on several occasions. In the final seconds North Adelaide rushed the ball into the forward line and marked 25 metres out from goal. Fortunately for the Seasiders the siren sounded while the ball was in mid-air. Todd Grima was reported for allegedly abusing a North Adelaide player but after the game report was thrown out. Josh Carr played his first game for the Tigers since 2000. ROUND 5 v CENTRAL DISTRICT (26/4/09) Lest we forget in many ways. On a day when we remember the sacrifices that many made to protect our nation, our institutions and our freedoms the Tigers were massacred and embarrassed by a disciplined Central District side. Glenelg won the toss, kicked with the breeze and scored the first goal. From then it was all the Bulldogs. The Tigers failed to capitalise on having the first use of the breeze and were quickly chasing the scoreboard. Glenelg's movement into the forward line was non existent. In stark contrast the Dogs were efficient in their ball movement and comfortably handled the windy and wet conditions. In order to reassert themselves on the competition the Tigers will need to quickly regain their 2008 form. It will need to start against South Adelaide in round 6. As for Anzac Day 2009, 'lest we forget'. details

ROUND 4 v WEST ADELAIDE (19/4/09) The Tigers were given an almighty scare in defeating the Bloods by four points. After establishing an early 28 point lead in the first quarter and kicking with the breeze, Glenelg allowed West Adelaide to kick 10 out of the next 11 goals. Careless errors and turnovers in the second quarter allowed the Bloods back into the game and a commanding 24 point half-time lead. The Tigers were not to be denied. After harsh words from the coaching staff the home side set about whittling down the margin and regaining the lead in a tense last quarter. However, with ten minutes left West Adelaide restored their advantaged. The Seasiders eventually edged their way back to the front when Ruory Kirkby was rewarded a free 35 metres from the goalfront. After Kirby coolly slotted the 6 pointer the Tigers held the ball inside their 50 metre zone for the remaining four minutes until victory was theirs. Full-forward Matthew Duldig was the match winner. Duldig provided a focal point up forward, marked strongly and converted 3 goals in the second half as the Tigers reduced the deficit. Ty Allen's presence was a welcome addition in the midfield. details

The scores were close all day until late into the final quarter when the lead edged out to 18 points. It was now time for experienced heads to steady the ship. It was the first in club history that Glenelg has defeated Port Adelaide on four consecutive occasions. details
Ruory Kirkby and Ben Kane thanking the supporters CHRIS HALL (4/4/09) Former AFL WAFL and South Adelaide player Chris Hall will play for the Tigers in 2008 and 2009. The 27 year old is a mulitple WAFL premiership player with Subiaco and will be a useful addition to the midfield and forward lines. Hall has been named in the reserves for the round 2 clash with the Magpies. ROUND 1 v STURT (29/3/09) The Tigers have defeated Sturt by 33 points to make a perfect start to the 2009 campaign. After quarter time the Tigers were never seriously threatened. The Blues made a surge midway through the third quarter to reduce a 35 point deficit to 18 points but the experienced Seasiders steadied the ship. The victory was not as satisfying as it should have been. Glenelg missed several easy shots in out-shooting the visitors 28 to 15.
