THE COACH
(David Noble)
"We wanted to make sure we put four good quarters together. There were always going to be times when they come back at you. We just had to hold firm in what we believee in and were trying to achieve on the day....There's no point us going home next week, taking on the Eagles and getting blown out of the water. Every week is a challenge for us."

COMMENTS
The Tigers smash a 19 year old Unley Oval hoodoo by defeating the reigning premier by 49 points.  How thngs have changed since 1984.  Bob Hawke was Prime Minister.  Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher were strutting their stuff on the world stage.  Recently promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers last played in the English Premier League and Glenelg legend Peter 'Super' Carey was suspended for attempted striking and shattered Glenelg's premiership hopes.  Today, David Noble and 21 committed players in black and gold created their own piece of history.

The Tigers led at every quarter but when Sturt threatened to seize control in the third quarter the boys from Brighton Road held their nerve.  A five goal to none last quarter, 3 from  Sudjai Cook, hammered the nails into the 21 Blue Boys' coffins.  The defence led by Sherwood, Nicholas and Mules were sensational in nullifying every Sturt forward thrust.  Culpitt, Backwell, Koster, Moore and Salopek (4 goals) were outstanding in the midfield.  Smith and Krueger toiled manfully in the ruck.  In fact, all 21 were heroes.

On the last day of Autumn at 4.51pm the sound siren sounded and the 19 year old Unley Oval hoodoo was finally over and condemned to the history books.
